Transportation and Infrastructure
Building a Roadmap for the REgion
As industry in the Chattanooga tri-state region continues to expand, it is imperative to address transportation and infrastructure needs.
Historically, the region has always been a major crossroads for commerce. Now, Chattanooga has elevated itself as a leader in logistical technology. As commerce builds and companies expand, the nation experiences changes in physical and digital infrastructure. Roads and interstates begin to wear, and broadband becomes a complex puzzle of access and policy.
Thrive Regional Partnership convenes key stakeholders to address critical infrastructure challenges involving the movement of people, products, and data around the tri-state region.
Projects
The Thrive Regional Infrastructure Portal (TRIP) is a geospatial data portal that integrates information from across three states (Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee) that are critical corridors of the southeastern supply chain network.
Thrive’s Regional Broadband Alliance is a cross-sector partnership framework where stakeholders can share ideas and resources related to digital access and equity, build empathy, and spark connections across organizations, as well as county and state lines.
Thrive is assisting the TN Department of Transportation and the U.S. Department of Transportation/Federal Highway Administration to obtain input from freight partners moving goods through Chattanooga and the Piedmont Atlantic mega-region.
Thrive’s cross-sector Freight Mobility Committee is comprised of public officials and private industry representatives across the tri-state footprint.
Thrive’s Transportation Collaborative was a coordinated task force of private and public partners dedicated to promoting the safe and efficient movement of people, products, and data in and around the tri-state region. Using design-thinking methodology, the Collaborative generated long-term resolutions to issues related to freight, workforce transit, and connectivity.
Perspectives
The Thrive Regional Infrastructure Portal (TRIP) won the Early Innovator Award from the Chattanooga Technology Council (ChaTech)
A research effort between Thrive Regional Partnership and Georgia Institute for Technology has developed an interactive data platform to support government and industry leaders in making informed infrastructure decisions at the community and regional level in greater Chattanooga.
Thrive will host its third annual State of Freight Forum on August 23 in Rossville, Georgia. Presented by EPB, the event will spark dialogue on electric vehicle infrastructure and the logistics industry.
